Remove sha-256 and sha-512 files from repository

If I understood this correctly, sha-256 and sha-512 files are currently not supported. I fixed my publications, so that they don't have these files. But in artifact's root folder these files still exist and I can't delete them. Can anything be done about it?

https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/io/microconfig/osdf/

In first two repositories, versions starting from 4.0.0 don't include sha-256/512 files anymore. Last repository is not updated yet. Will everything work properly with older versions if these files will be deleted?
