      Description

When using M2Eclipse (v0.12.0.20101115-1102), using the action Maven-->Update snapshots, snapshots which are more recent on the Maven artifact server are not downloaded nor updated.

M2Eclipse is running in "online" mode (ie, Offline preference is unchecked).
Using the command line with Maven 2 (v2.0.10) works perfectly, so it does not look like its related to my settings.

This needs to be addressed as part of SNAPSHOT management rework.

What we found is that a single level project (that with the code in /src, with no sub-modules) worked fine. What broke for us was a multi-module project. For example, the following structure was one that did not work:
/pom.xml (specifies children poms, repository configs, and a parent module, but no dependencies).
/data/src/ ... code for data module
/data/pom.xml specifies dependencies for data module
/interface/src/ ... code for interface module
/interface/pom.xml specifies dependencies for interface module.

The maven console would show that it was downloading the parent specified the /pom.xml, but would not download any dependencies of the modules. An interesting note... the POM editor was able to read dependencies when we opened /data/pom.xml.

One thing I noticed is that the new plugin did not have the setting in Window/Preference/Maven for "support multiple Maven modules mapped to a single Eclipse workspace project".

When we reverted back to the previous version of the eclipse plugin (0.10.2.20100623-1649), we were able to compile all of our projects once again.

Was there a change to the way multi-module projects are handled in the new plugin? Perhaps there is a setting somewhere else that we needed to set (couldn't find it while browsing around before we reverted).

        Thanks for your help!

I'm also experiencing this problem, with maven 2.2.1 and 3.0.1 (and latest nexus-oss server)
Right now i'm using a run-configuration compile with update-snapshots to workaround this issue ...

I am also 1+ using maven 3.0.1 and it says the could not find snapshot. I have two repositories in my pom file. To me it looks like a M2Eclipse issue as the error 'not found' is seen only for one repo. The repo which has this artifact, it seems, it never looks. As mentioned above command line works fine.

I tried the command one and it worked. I think if you check 'Update Snapshot' in the Eclipse Run Configuration that should also work. I cant confirm as at this point cant create the usecase again. I ll update if it reproduces.

I'm also seeing snapshots not getting updated w/ 0.12.1.20110112-1712. I'm using multi-module projects.
